Capri Restaurant No Longer Coming To Clarendon Hills
The restaurant owner claims the property owner reneged on a handshake agreement for the lease terms.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL — A Capri restaurant is no longer coming to Clarendon Hills.
Joey Capri, owner of Capri Lounge & Grill in Willow Springs, was set to open a restaurant at 1 Walker Ave., the former site of The George.
The Village Board voted last month to approve the liquor license for the new Capri location.

However, according to a village memo, Capri was no longer going forward with opening the restaurant.
Village Manager Kevin Barr told Patch in an email the village was advised there were lease issues.

Capri said it had a handshake agreement with the property owner for a two-year lease at $7,000 a month. However, the property owner later received an offer for $13,000 a month, which led the owner to back out of the agreement with Capri, according to the restaurant.
Capri told Patch he was shocked by the property owner's decision. He claims it "did a lot of damage."
The Willow Springs restaurant owner said he was considering looking at other locations for a new restaurant.
“We’ll see what happens,” Capri said in a phone call.
Patch has attempted to contact the property owner of 1 Walker Ave.
