Community Invited to Welcome New Hinsdale Police Chief
The village board will welcome Police Chief Kevin Simpson and honor retired Police Chief Bradley Bloom on March 1.

Hinsdale, IL - The Hinsdale Village Board of Trustees is inviting community members to a reception welcoming newly appointed Police Chief Kevin Simpson and honoring former Police Chief Bradley Bloom.
The reception is Tuesday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Hinsdale Memorial Building, 19 E. Chicago Avenue. Light refreshments will be served.

Simpson has been with the Village as a sworn police officer for over 27 years. During that time, he has served as Deputy Police Chief for 13 years. In addition, Simpson is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and he has been instrumental in securing the Police Department’s accreditation since 1996 through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Simpson has served as interim Police Chief since February 19.
Bloom retired February 19 after serving 31 years as a sworn police officer with the Village. Bloom began his career in Hinsdale as a community service officer (CSO).

In 1984, Bloom was appointed to the position of Police Officer. In 1987, Bloom was promoted to Sergeant. He was also appointed Deputy Chief in 2000 and then Police Chief in 2003. Effective February 22, Bloom assumed the role as the Village of Hinsdale’s Assistant Village Manager/Director of Public Safety.
Reception attendees are invited to stay for the Village Board meeting beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. when Bloom will be recognized for his service to the Village, and Village President Tom Cauley will administer the oath of office to newly appointed Police Chief Kevin Simpson.
