For many years, we have been trying to address the facility challenges of Hinsdale Middle School, including its inefficient design, outdated learning spaces and inadequate systems.
We’ve made improvements when possible and repairs when needed.

We have also listened to our community’s desire for a responsible, long-term solution. We have heard the hope for a better learning environment for students and a building you can be proud of — one that is more indicative of our community and educational excellence.
For the last two years, we have been working together with staff, board members, parents and residents to conduct in-depth research, facilitate community conversations, and complete extensive data-driven planning so that we can make informed decisions about next steps. Now, a solution is being proposed.

During the March 15, 2016 election, voters will be presented with a referendum question seeking authorization to sell up to $65 million in bonds to finance the construction of a new HMS.
On Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m., we’ll be hosting an information night and school tours. All community members are welcome. I encourage you to visit our website at d181.org. We have posted a comprehensive FAQ, Fact Sheet, a detailed cost-impact analysis, a community comment form and many other resources.
We are on Twitter @CCSD181, and anyone may sign up for our e-newsletter by sending a message to bmcguiggan@d181.org.
We are grateful to all who have contributed their input into this process, and we look forward to continuing the dialogue with you in the weeks ahead.
Sincerely,
Don White, Ph.D.
