Got Unused Prescription Drugs? You Can Drop Them Off April 30
Clarendon Hills and Hinsdale Police will be accepting unused prescriptions on April 30.
The Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills Police Departments are taking part in Prescription Drug Take- Back Day on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
During that time, the departments will collect expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs.
"Rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are increasing at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Many people do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away—both potential safety and health hazards," said Deputy Chief Mark Wodka in a press announcement about the effort.

People also can remove medication from its original container and dispose of it directly in the disposal box.
The Hinsdale Police Department will not accept liquid products, intra-venous solutions and syringes.
