Harassing Emails, Domestic Disputes, DUIs: Hinsdale Police Blotter

The following items were taken from the Hinsdale police blotter over the past week. Arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

DUIs

  • Lauren M. Battaglia, 33, was stopped by Hinsdale police around 9 p.m. Feb. 8 for improper lane use and speeding in the area of Route 83 and 55th Street. Battaglia, who’s from Lombard, was arrested for drunk driving but refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. She was charged and released with a court date.

Identity theft

  • A Hinsdale resident living in the 200 block of North County Line Road reported to police Feb. 10 that sometime between noon on Jan. 8 and 5 p.m. on Feb. 1, someone used their information to open two credit card accounts. According to police reports, there were no charges on either account.
  • A resident living in the 800 block of North County Line Road told police that on Jan. 10, someone had opened a credit card using their information and tallied up a balance of $511.64.

Residential burglary

  • A man living in the 100 block of North Vine Street was robbed of $150 in cash the afternoon of Feb. 11 when a small group teamed up to distract and burglarize him. The man said a suspect, described as a white male wearing a gray jacket, knocked on his front door that afternoon and offered to trim trees in his backyard. The suspect asked the man to go with him to the backyard to show him which trees needed to be trimmed, at which point other suspects entered the man’s home and stole cash. The resident saw two other men leaving his house when he went back inside.

Domestic battery

  • Francisco V. Gonzalez, 56, who lives in the 300 block of Flagg Court, was arrested just before 11 p.m. on Feb. 11 for domestic battery when he reportedly insulted or provoked a female family member. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Theft

  • An employee working at BP Amoco at 149 E. Ogden Ave. said that between 4:20 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 11, someone stole his cell phone, which he left unattended during that time. The phone is valued at $200.

Online harassment

  • A resident living in the 600 block of South Lincoln Street told police that at 8:35 a.m. Feb. 10, they received emails and letters from an unknown person that were harassing in nature. No further information is available at this time.
