Hinsdale Central Principal Search: D86 Wants Parent Input

A survey will go out Tuesday to ask Hinsdale Central families and staff what characteristics they want the new principal to have.

District 86 administration is hoping to learn what characteristics Hinsdale Central families and staff want in their new principal.

Acting Superintendent Bruce Law sent a letter to those stakeholders Tuesday morning in advance of an online survey that will be released Tuesday afternoon.

Former Hinsdale Central Principal Mike McGrory left the school for a new job in Iowa at the end of last year. Tom Paulsen and Frank Kesman are currently serving as interim principals.

District 86 plans to have a new Hinsdale Central principal hired and ready to begin at the start of next school year.

Patch will post a link to the survey when it is released, but in the meantime here is Law's letter, which was forwarded along by new communications director Kristine Liptrot:

Hinsdale Central Families & Staff,

Later today, you will receive an email asking you to participate in a survey to help determine the attributes of the next Hinsdale Central High School principal.  The survey is being conducted by School Perceptions, LLC, to ensure the anonymity of the respondents and the integrity of the results.

The survey will allow everyone in the community to have a voice in this process. The survey must be completed prior to October 12 so that the data can be used to evaluate the applications for the Hinsdale Central principal position.

I strongly encourage you to thoughtfully participate in this process. We are fortunate to be a part of an extremely desirable school district to which many highly-qualified candidates are expected to apply. The survey results will assist us in determining the characteristics of the individual that will best match the needs and expectations of the Hinsdale Central community.

Candidates interested in applying for the principal position must complete the online application by October 18. It is the intention of the Hinsdale 86 Board of Education to name the new Hinsdale Central principal prior to winter break to allow for a smooth transition prior to his/her official July 1, 2014 start date.

Thank you for your assistance in this process and your continued support of our students and schools.

Bruce Law, Ed. D.

Acting Superintendent
