Hinsdale To Examine Downtown Traffic
After the project, the village plans to study other neighborhoods' traffic.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale plans to study downtown traffic, including pedestrians and bicyclists.
The Village Board is set to vote in a couple of weeks to spend up to $54,000 for a Rosemont-based consulting firm, KLOA, to perform the study.
After the project, Hinsdale aims to hire the firm to look at other neighborhoods, something that Elmhurst has been doing for the last few years.

KLOA's Michael Werthmann told the board Tuesday that his firm plans to track daily traffic volumes and drivers' speeds at 10 downtown sites. Also, it will count cars, pedestrians and bicyclists at 15 intersections, he said.
Additionally, the firm aims to gather crash data from the police department.

"We'll get a good cross-section of what's going on downtown," Werthmann said.
Trustees Alexis Braden and Michelle Fisher requested a look at school zones.
"At our elementary schools, we are routinely seeing cars blocking sidewalks and intersections," Braden said.
The consulting firm also plans to examine how outdoor dining is working out.
