Hinsdale Fire Department Seeks Applicants for Firefighters, Paramedics
Entry level full-time firefighter/paramedic positions are open with the department.

Hinsdale, IL - The Village of Hinsdale’s Board of Police and Fire Commissioners (BOFPC) is conducting an application and testing process for entry level full-time firefighter/paramedic positions with the Hinsdale Fire Department.
As required by Illinois State Statute, the Fire Department hopes to create a list of ideal candidates in the event of any future position openings within the Department over the next two years. The process is lengthy, taking nearly four months to complete and is comprised of several stages including a written test, oral interviews, background check, medical exam, psychological/polygraph testing, and assessment center exercise.

The fiscal year 2015-2016 salary range is $60,939.38-$91,660.79. The Village of Hinsdale is an equal opportunity employer.

The Hinsdale Fire Department is a municipal, career fire department providing fire, emergency medical and rescue services to the Village of Hinsdale, which is approximately five square miles and has a population of over 17,000 residents. There are 23 full-time members on the Fire Department, all of whom are assigned to three different shifts (maintaining a six-person minimum on each shift). This includes three Captains, three Lieutenants, 15 Firefighter/Paramedics, the Assistant Chief, and the Chief. There are also part-time staff members, which include an administrative assistant and daytime fire inspector. Last year the Fire Department responded to 2,473 calls for emergencies. Additionally, the Department is actively involved in year-round public education programs and provides fire prevention services to the Village of Hinsdale.
