Hinsdale Garage Fire Causes $20K in Damages

No one was injured in the fire Tuesday night.

Hinsdale, IL - A garage fire at a Hinsdale home Tuesday night caused about $20,000 in damages, but no one was injured.

A resident of the 0-100 block of N. Vine called 911 around 10:33 p.m. to report a fire in a home behind his house on Clay Street, according to the Hinsdale Fire Department.

Hinsdale fire personnel responded to the general alarm, along with fire companies from Clarendon Hills, Oak Brook and Western Springs.

They found the blaze inside a one-and-a-half story detached garage behind the Clay Street home. Hinsdale fire crews entered the garage and launched a rapid fire attack, according to the department.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and fire companies from other towns helped with ventilation and overhaul. The house was being renovated, and no one was home when the fire took place. The home next to the garage wasn't damaged in the fire, and neither were neighboring homes.

The fire appears accidental, but it is still under investigation.
