Hinsdale Inferno Basketball- Community Connection & Quality Basketball
Hinsdale Inferno Basketball, started in 2007, offers an experience that can't be matched by AAU programs in winter season
The Hinsdale Inferno Basketball program is a parent volunteer led, community based and focused organization that was established in 2007. The Inferno has been a critical program for the girls and boys youth basketball experience since its inception. The Inferno teams compete in the DYTBL (DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League) in the winter which is often regarded as the best youth league in the state of Illinois (with games no more than a 30 minute drive away!) – AAU teams are not allowed to participate in DYTBL. Inferno games in DYTBL are scheduled at the beginning of the season so families know when their games are and can schedule appropriately; most AAU winter games don’t have schedules until 2 or 3 days before their games. Hinsdale Inferno is considered a “feeder” program as most of its players eventually play at Hinsdale Central. To make the experience even more rewarding, the Inferno uses professional trainers for practices for all levels. Over the years we have seen Inferno players develop their skill set and love of basketball and eventually compete at Hinsdale Central High School. The Inferno has Hinsdale Central girls and boys coaches and varsity players conduct the annual tryouts. Additionally, Hinsdale Central coaches regularly attend our Inferno girls and boys games as well as host “Inferno – Future Red Devils” nights at varsity girls and boys games.
Winter is "feeder" basketball season and the Inferno plays in the DYTBL which has awesome competition. The competition and organization is something AAU programs can’t offer during the winter season (AAU's main basketball season is in Spring/Summer).
According to Inferno Board President, Mike Kurkowski, “The Inferno is all about community and having fun, learning and developing life long skills through basketball.”
