Hinsdale Looking to Up Revenue from Village Pool

The Village instituted a 10-visit pass two years ago and is now considering decreasing non-resident rates to attract more poolgoers.

The Village of Hinsdale is looking at ways to increase revenue from the Village swimming pool, with the Village Board having renewed the pool's concessions license and planning improvements, and officials considering changes to the pool's pricing structure , the Chicago Tribune reports.

According to the paper, revenue from the pool was $168,793 in 2010; $200,550 in 2011; and $198,213 in 2012; recent changes to the pricing structure have included adding a 10-visit pass, and officials on the Zoning and Community Affairs committee are considering decreasing some or all non-resident rates.

"The weather drives pool daily admissions and annual passes," Gina Hassett, Village director of parks and recreation, told the paper. "It's hard to sell passes in April and May if it was a cool summer the prior year... The weather the last two years has left a mark, so I anticipate sales to be about where they've been," she said.
