Hinsdale Police Reports: Burglary, DUI, Theft, Fraud

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through July 19.

Connor S Powell, 23 of the 1700 block of N 20th Avenue in Melrose Park, was observed to be under the influence of alcohol while driving July 17 at Ogden Avenue and York Road. He submitted testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was charged with DUI-alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane use, and he was released to appear in court.

Anatasha L Shew, 32 of the 8300 block of W 83rd Avenue in Burbank was stopped July 18 for speeding and improper lane use. She was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, and she submitted testing that indicated she was over the legal limit. She was in possession of a green leafy substance that field tested positive for cannabis and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Shew was charged with DUI-alcohol, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and improper lane use. She was released to appear in court.

Someone reported $60 missing from an envelope inside her purse. She reported the theft occurred while she was visiting a patient July 16 at ManorCare, 600 W Ogden Ave.

Kevin R Capo, 30 of the 10800 block of Hillsdale Road in Countryside, was stopped July 14 for improper lane use and driving with the interior light on at Washington Street and Ogden Avenue. An open beer can was thrown out of the window of the car. Capo was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, and he submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. Capo was in possession of a green leafy substance that field tested positive for cannabis. He was charged with DUI-alcohol, possession of cannabis, improper lane use and illegal transportation of an alcoholic beverage. He was released to appear in court.

Heather Ann Johnson, 52 of the 200 block of Brookview Circle in Jamestown, North Carolina, was stopped July 14 for improper lane use at Ogden Avenue and Route 83. An open beer can was found inside the vehicle, and Johnson was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. She submitted testing that indicated she was over the legal limit. She was charged with DUI-alcohol, improper lane use and illegal transportation of open alcohol, and she was released to appear in court.

A resident reported a home burglary that occurred while she was out of town between July 5 and 7. A wallet valued at $50 was delivered to the victim’s house in the 300 block of N Adams Street, and the owner found the package inside her house with the wallet missing. A book bag valued at $900 was also missing from the house, and there were signs of forced entry to a garage door. A detailed list of items missing was not available at the time of report.

Someone reported a person entered their vehicle between July 9 and 12 while it was parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Cleveland Road. Nothing was reported missing from the car.

Someone entered cars between July 9 and 10 and stole a computer valued at $1,000 and backpack valued at $50. The person entered three vehicles that were parked in a driveway in the 600 block of E 6th Street. The cars were all believed to be unlocked.

Someone reported a backpack valued at $50 containing an iPad valued at $600 and a laptop valued at $900 missing between July 9 and 14 from his house in the 200 block of The Lane. The owner was in the process of moving and had various workers at his house.

Someone was approached by two suspects July 10 claiming they could fix dents on the person's car that was parked in the driveway in the 800 block of S Lincoln Street. The suspects were given a check for $680 to fix the dents, and they cashed the check before completing the repair and are not answering phone calls.
