Hinsdale Police Reports: Burglary, Theft, Underage Drinking

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through Jan. 5.

Three people banging on a glass window Dec. 30 at a front door in the 300 Block Minneola Street broke the glass. The victim saw the suspects running away and believed they were juveniles because of their size. A neighbor reported unknown suspects were ringing his doorbell around the same time of the damage.

Someone used a victim’s bank account information Dec. 30 to withdraw $4,850 and issue a cashier’s check in the amount of $3,196.90.

A burglar entered a garage Dec. 31 and entered an unlocked car parked in the garage in the 600 Block South Lincoln Street. There were no signs of forced entry to the side door of the garage. Loose change was missing from the car.

Someone took a cab Jan. 2 from the Aurora train station to the Hinsdale train station and gave the cab driver a deactivated credit card and fled the taxi. The suspect is described as a 30-year-old white man with a reddish brown beard, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds, wearing a knit hat and winter jacket.

A 17-year-old boy of Hinsdale was stopped Jan. 3 for driving without lights when required at S Garfield Avenue and E 8th Street. He was seen to be under the influence of alcohol. He was charged and released to a parent.

[Name Withheld], 21 of the 200 block of Shenstone Road in Riverside, was stopped Jan. 2 for speeding at Woodland and 55th. He was seen to be under the influence of alcohol. He submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. [Name Withheld] was charged and released to appear in court.

Someone stole a lawn mower, a gas can and ear muffs Dec. 7 from a front yard in the 800 Block Phillippa Street.

Two 17-year-old boys of Hinsdale were observed standing on the sidewalk Jan. 1 in the 200 Block of The Lane. They were seen to be under the influence of alcohol. They were charged with unlawful use of alcohol by person under 21 and released to a parent.

Verrah S Rouse, 30 of the 2500 block of N. Manheim Road in Franklin Park, was involved in a traffic crash Jan. 1 and fled the scene. Rouse was seen to be under the influence of alcohol. She submitted to testing that indicated she was over the legal limit. She was charged with DUI, hit and run, driving with a suspended license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and released to appear in court.

Someone stole a decorative bench between Dec. 28 and 30 from a front yard in the 500 Block East Walnut Street. The bench is valued at $500.
