Hinsdale Police Reports: DUI, Hit and Run, Bike Theft

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through May 17.

Seth A Rife, 33 of the 0-100 block of Ottawa Court in Oswego, was arrested May 9 and charged with aggravated DUI, DUI- alcohol, driving on the sidewalk, illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor and driving with a suspended license. Police were sent around 6:19 p.m. for reports of a person slumped over the wheel on the sidewalk in the 500 block of Ravine Road. Rife was taken to the Cook County Jail for a bond hearing.

Someone hit a car while it was parked between May 9 and 10 in the 5500 block of S Madison Street.

Vincent C Giampietro, 19 of the 4900 block of Commonwealth Avenue in Western Springs and a 15-year-old boy of Oak Park were stopped May 11 for speeding at Garfield Avenue and Maple Street. They were found in possession of drug paraphernalia and a substance that field tested positive for cannabis. Police also found open beer cans in the car. The boy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis and released to a parent. Giampietro was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis, possession of alcohol by a person under 21, speeding, uninsured vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol and was released to appear in court.

Someone stole a bicycle between May 12 and 13 behind a house in the 400 block of S Madison Street. The bike was valued at $125.

Robert B Stephens, 20 of the 5700 block of S Washington Street in Hinsdale, was stopped May 13 at Washington Street and Bonnie Brae Road after a registration check showed he had a suspended driver's license. Stephens was charged with driving while license suspended and released to appear in court.

Alexander R Talbott, 28 of the 9400 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Chicago Ridge, crashed into a utility pole May 15 at Park Avenue and Symonds Drive. He submitted to testing that showed he was over the legal alcohol limit. Talbott was charged with DUI- alcohol, DUI over 0.08 and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and was released to appear in court.

An 18-year-old Hinsdale resident was stopped May 14 for running a stop sign at 3rd and Washington streets. He submitted to testing that showed he'd drank alcohol. He was charged and released to a parent.
