Hinsdale Police Reports: Property Damage, DUI, Fraud
Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through July 12.

Someone posted a listing on Craigslist to sell a video game system for $150. A person sent the seller a cashier’s check for $875 and told them to cash the check and wire the difference back. The seller did not cash the check and contacted the police July 5.
Two walkway lights valued at $500 each were damaged between July 5 and 6 in the 400 block of N Elm Street.

Dawn R Ramos, 52 of the 5200 block of Fairview Avenue in Downers Grove, was stopped July 7 for improper lane use at Monroe and 7th streets. Ramos seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, and she refused testing to determine BAC. She was charged with DUI-alcohol and improper lane use and was released to appear in court.
Someone used the a person's identity to open a cable TV account. The victim learned of the identity theft when her appointment to have cable installed was cancelled because of a delinquent account under her social security number for $341.15. The identity theft was reported July 9.

Someone used a person's email to request a transfer of $24,620 on July 8. The person's bank called and advised them of the email and he advised that the transfer was fraudulent.
A woman parked her car in her driveway and left it unlocked with the key inside in the 700 block of Wilson Lane. A neighbor called her the next morning and said the car was parked in front of her house on the street with the engine running. $6 was missing from the car. The burglary was reported July 10.
Someone entered a car July 10 while it was parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Wilson Lane. A pair of sunglasses valued at $500 were reported missing from the car.
David L. Carr, 32 of the 2500 block of Kensington in Westchester, was stopped July 2 for disobeying a traffic control device in the 200 block of E Ogden Avenue. Carr seemed to be under the influence of alcohol. He said he did not have identification on him and that he was a probation officer. Police found Carr's wallet and learned he gave them false information. Carr submitted testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was charged with driving under the influence – alcohol, obstructing identification, attempt false personation of a peace officer, disobeying a traffic control device and driving while license suspended. He posted bond and was released to appear in court.
Someone used a credit card June 19 to make fraudulent purchases at Urban Counter, Xport Fitness, T-Mobile and iTunes. The fraudulent purchases totaled $431.91.
A resident of the 300 block of N. Elm Street reported two windows on her house were damaged June 29. The outer panes were broken by a rock or other hard object. Each window is valued at $1,000.
