Hinsdale Pool Sees Big Hikes From 2 Towns

The pool attributes the increases to closures in neighboring towns.

HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale Community Pool is seeing a big increase in membership sales, thanks to two towns in particular.

According to the latest data, the village's pool sold 506 membership passes this year to Clarendon Hills residents, up from six the year before. Among Western Springs residents, the Hinsdale pool sold 235 passes this year, an increase from last year's 59.

In a report last week, the pool said the hikes were the result of the closures of pools in Clarendon Hills and Western Springs.

In spring 2024, Clarendon Hills voters approved going into debt by $8 million to pay for upgrading Lions Park Pool. As a result, the pool is closed this season.

However, the Western Springs Service Club's private pool is open this summer. The nonprofit group that runs the pool is planning to replace and expand the two pools in the complex.

Overall, the Hinsdale pool's membership number is nearly triple what it was a year ago, reaching more than 3,400.

According to the report, the Hinsdale pool's income so far this summer is already 6 percent above its projection, receiving more than $460,000. The pool said its year-to-date income is already 141 percent above 2019's.

In 2024, the pool received $493,000.
