Hinsdale School Getting New Principal

She is set to replace someone who is leaving after four years at the helm.

HINSDALE, IL – A new principal is poised to be hired at Hinsdale's Madison Elementary School.

Katherine Zulauf is listed in Hinsdale School District 181's personnel report, which is up for a school board vote Monday.

Zulauf is now the principal at Rupley Elementary School in Elk Grove Village.

As of last school year, about 315 students were enrolled at Rupley, lower than Madison's more than 350, state records show.

The demographics at the two schools are far different. Nearly 80 percent of Rupley students come from low-income families, compared with none at Madison last year, according to the Illinois Report Card.

At Madison, Zulauf is set to make $136,226. As of last year, she made $114,000 at Rupley, according to its compensation report.

If appointed, Zulauf would replace Barbara Shanahan, who is leaving after four years at the helm.
