Hinsdale South Student To Perform In Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Junior Rohan Joshi has been selected to perform with the All-American Marching Band in the 2025 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Hinsdale South High School junior Rohan Joshi has been selected to perform with the All-American Marching Band in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Joshi, a saxophonist and junior drum major, earned his spot after a competitive audition process that drew applicants from across the country. Only 15 to 20 alto saxophonists are chosen nationwide each year.

“I’ve watched the parade with my grandparents since I was little, and the marching bands were always my favorite part,” Joshi said. “When I found out I made it, I was ecstatic. It honestly feels like a dream come true.”

Joshi, who has played the saxophone for more than seven years, submitted his audition just before the deadline. The application required video performances showcasing both marching technique and musical ability, along with a résumé of academic and musical honors.

In the week leading up to the parade, Joshi will fly to New York to rehearse daily with fellow musicians from across the United States before taking the field on Thanksgiving morning.
