Hinsdale Teen Charged in CH Heritage Hall Arson

The Aug. 2015 fire cause an estimated $100,000 in damage.

An investigation of the suspicious fire in Aug. 2015 at Heritage Hall in Clarendon Hills led police to a teenager from Hinsdale as a person of interest.

But it wasn’t until the 17-year-old boy was charged and questioned for grocery store theft that he acknowledged he started the fire at the home of the Clarendon Hills Historical Society, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The boy has been charged with arson in connection with the fire that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the building at 50 Sheridan Ave.

The Clarendon Hills Historical Society is fundraising for the Heritage Hall Transformation Project, though the village and the society are expected to seek restitution for the damage caused by the fire, the Tribune reports.
