HINSDALE, IL – A new medical building is proposed for northwest Hinsdale, with the owner planning to tear down the old one.

Hinsdale Orthopaedics Associates, 550 W. Ogden Ave., recently joined the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute.

On Tuesday, the Village Board is slated to consider the institute's project.

According to a village memo, the institute plans to demolish the existing building, parking lot, driveways and landscaped areas.

In its place would be an outpatient surgical center and medical offices in a 1½-story building, including six operating rooms, the memo said.

The institute has made changes to its original plan to allow for more landscaping between the building and houses to the south, the village said. This was at the request of neighbors.

Last month, the Plan Commission recommended the zoning for the project.

The site in question is next to Kensington School and The Pearl of Hinsdale nursing home.
