When Clarendon Hills Pool Will Reopen
In 2024, voters approved $8 million for the Lions Park Pool renovation project.

CLARENDON HILLS, IL – Demolition began this week as part of the Lions Park Pool project, according to the Clarendon Hills Park District.
After that, the renovation will start, with the pool set to be ready in time for Memorial Day weekend next year, the district said Wednesday.
The pool is closed now. For this summer, Clarendon Hills residents can buy Hinsdale Community Pool passes at a resident rate. As a result, Hinsdale has seen a big increase in Clarendon Hills residents at the pool.

In the March 2024 election, 70 percent of voters approved an $8 million referendum for upgrading the pool. At the time, district officials said the owner of a $500,000 house would see a tax hike of $200 annually for 15 years.
Without the tax hike, the park district said before the election that it would immediately close the pool and return it to the Lions Club. The club, which ran the pool more than two decades earlier, said it, too, would shut down the pool.

About $5 million was expected to be spent on refurbishing the pool, while the other $3 million was designated for a larger splash pad and a new double slide, which would be in addition to the existing slide.
