Who Won Money in Wednesday's Powerball Drawing?

Though no one hit the $528.5 million jackpot in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, several Illinois ticket buyers matched enough numbers to come away with cash.

The Jan. 6 drawing pulled numbers 2 - 11 - 47 - 62 - 63 and Powerball number 17.

No lottery ticket holders in Illinois matched five out of five numbers without the Powerball number, meaning no one in the state was awarded a $1,000,000 payout, according to the Illinois Lottery.

But more than 252,000 prizes, from $4 to $150,000, were won in Illinois in the drawing.

Four winning Illinois tickets earned $50,000 by matching four out of five numbers and the Powerball number.

With four out of five winning numbers but no Powerball match, 169 people in Illinois won $100. The same payout was awarded to 383 people who matched three out of five numbers and the Powerball.

A mere $7 was paid to 9,654 people who matched three out of five without the Powerball number and to those 8,272 Illinois tickets matching two out of five with the Powerball.

One out of five matching with the Powerball number earned $4 for 63,452 ticket holders in the state and for 151,109 tickets with only the Powerball number matched.

One lucky Illinois gambler who chose the Power Play option, which costs an extra dollar per ticket and multiplied winnings by three in this drawing, won a $150,000 payout by matching four out of five numbers and the Powerball.

Forty-two people in the state won $300 with the Power Play, 1,505 people won $21 and 18,530 won $12.

Nationwide, 7,124,983 players won more than $65.9 million in prizes in Wednesday’s drawing, according to Powerball.

The next drawing is set for 9:59 p.m. CST Jan. 9, when $700 million — the largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history — could land in someone’s pocket. The odds of hitting jackpot are 1 to 292,201,338, and the cash value is $428.4 million, the Illinois Lottery reports.
