A 48-year-old Melrose Park woman told officers that her mother, a nursing home resident, called her to say that a certified nursing assistant threatened her.

The woman told police the assistant hit her first, scratching her on the right side of the nose, police said. The woman also said she was struck on the chin.

At one point, though, the woman conceded she may have struck the assistant first, saying she may have felt threatened, police said.

She also said they went "blow for blow" and that "no one got the better of each other." She added she got ahold of the employee's wig.

Police said independent witnesses reported the 48-year-old started the fight by poking the assistant in the forehead and punching her.

The suspect was charged with misdemeanor battery.
