Woman Reports Her Oven Caught on Fire

The fire in the Graue Mill Country Condominiums is ruled accidental.

A woman was treated Monday for smoke inhalation after her oven caught on fire.

The resident of the 1400 block of Burr Oak Road in the Graue Mill Country Condominiums called the Hinsdale Fire Department to report that her oven was on fire. The first Hinsdale firefighters to arrive on the scene reported light smoke in the hallway on the third floor. Once inside the condo, the firefighters extinguished the fire in the oven, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the kitchen.

However, while in route to the fire, the alarm was upgraded and crews from neighboring fire departments responded. Assisting Hinsdale were firefighters from the Clarendon Hills, Western Springs, Tri-State and Oakbrook Terrace departments. They helped to ventilate the smoke from the condo and common hallways. The smoke was eventually cleared from the building and the homeowner, who was treated at the scene, was able to return to her condo.
