Fire Destroys Pole Barn Owned By Lockport Township Trucking Company
The Christmas Eve fire took more than three hours to get under control as three local departments also battled sub-zero temperatures.

LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP, IL — Lockport Township firefighters spent more than three hours battling a blaze at a pole barn on Christmas Eve that destroyed the headquarters of a commercial trucking business, fire officials said.
The fire was reported at 4:09 p.m. when firefighters from the Lockport Township Fire Protection District were called to the 15500 block of South Weber Rd. As trucks arrived at the business, a large column of black smoke could be seen in the area of Gasnas Trucking, Inc., fire officials said.
Firefighters worked to protect several semi-tractor trailers that were parked next to the pole barn, according to Lockport Township Deputy Fire Chief Frank Blaskey. Firefighters found the roof of the pole barn completely collapsed, which increased the amount of time needed to fight the fire.

Due to the sub-zero temperatures on Saturday, the Plainfield Emergency Management Agency was called to the location to provide a warming bus for firefighters. Plainfield and Romeoville fire departments were also called to the business due to the size of the fire, Baskey said.
The business was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
