Forest Preserve Project Planned For Homer Glen Trail

The Forest Preserve District of Will County has several trail projects planned this year and beyond.

HOMER GLEN, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County has several trail projects planned this year and beyond, including a section of the Spring Creek Greenway Trail in Hadley Valley preserve, according to a news release.

“Our trails are one of the biggest draws for nature lovers and fitness enthusiasts,” said Cindy Wojdyla Cain, the Forest Preserve District’s public information officer. “If we build them, people come. It’s not unusual to see people running, walking, pushing strollers, rollerblading and biking along our paths as soon as they are opened.”

One planned trail project includes work on the Spring Creek Greenway Trail near Homer Glen. A 950-foot section of the trail will be paved east of Interstate 355 to the Bruce Road access area.

The preserve said the grass will also be mowed along the trail in this area to allow for equestrian use.

A contract for the project could be awarded in September and the work would be completed by the end of the year, according to the preserve.
