Homer Library Director 'Impacts So Many Lives': Patch Community Leader

HOMER GLEN, IL — Without community leaders, Homer Glen wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from Jane Klunk, a Homer Glen Patch reader who nominated Sheree Kozel-La Ha.

How do you know this community leader?

Director Kozel-La Ha was hired and remains director while I have served as a Library Trustee

What does this community leader do?

Director Kozel-La Ha has been on many community boards. She has written several grants to enhance the budget, which provide new programming and materials. She managed two additions and renovations of the library. During the pandemic, she and her staff continued to provide library serves in a variety of creative ways. Because the community does not have a park district, she has recognized the library’s role in providing so many activities for all ages. She manages an award-winning staff which she has mentored. Director Kozel-La Ha is always committed to making the library a place that is welcoming and accessible for everyone. She always dies it in a confident, professional way that is reflected in the library’s use and popularity.

It is important to recognize individuals who see what they do as more than a career, but also as a vocation

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Sheree Kozel-La Ha has impacted so many lives in Homer Township not only as the library director, but also as a resident through her tireless service to community organizations
