Local Officials Plan Community Shred In Lockport

The shred event is only for paper shredding; electronic or medical recycling is prohibited.

LOCKPORT, IL — A free community shred event will be held on Sept. 27 thanks to State Rep. Dagmara Avelar, State Sen. Meg Loughran Cappel and Lockport Township Supervisor Alex Zapien. The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at Lockport Township, 1463 Farrell Road.

“Not everyone can access a personal shredder or other secure method to get rid of sensitive documents. This free community shredding event offers an accessible solution for those looking to dispose of any confidential paperwork,” Avelar said in a news release.

“Shredding personal documents that contain financial records, social security numbers, or other personal details protects our residents against the potential of identity theft or other sensitive leaks,” said Avelar. “I have to thank Senator Cappel and her team for their partnership so we can bring this convenient service to our area.”
