Lockport Baker Advances To Quarterfinals Of 'The Greatest Baker'
Voting in the quarterfinals resumed Monday.
LOCKPORT, IL — Local baker and business owner Megan DiCaro has made it into the quarterfinals of "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro's The Greatest Baker competition.
DiCaro, who owns the recently opened Springview Sweets in Lockport, was nominated for the competition and is now in the top 1 percent of bakers in the competition, according to the competition website.

The winner of the competition wins $10,000 and a feature in "Bake From Scratch" magazine.
DiCaro told Patch previously she would use a portion of the winnings for a donation to BrainUp, a nonprofit raising money for brain cancer research. Shortly before she opened her bakery, DiCaro's grandmother passed from an aggressive brain cancer.

According to the competition website, DiCaro would also put some money back into her business to offer new products and services.
Springview Sweets opened in October in the Lockport Metra Station, 133 W. 13th St. DiCaro, who was born and raised in Lockport, sells cookies, cakes, cake pops, Royal icing sugar cookies, brownies, muffins and more.
