A 34-year-old Lockport man allegedly battered a woman and then fought with officers trying to arrest him, according to sheriff's reports.

LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP, IL — A Lockport man was arrested and charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery to a police officer, after a violent encounter Wednesday in Lockport Township, Will County Sheriff's Police said Thursday.
Police were called Wednesday at 3:20 p.m. to the 16000 block of W. 145th Place in Lockport Township, for a report of a woman who had been beaten at her residence. The woman told police she had been in her garage, when she and a man known to her began arguing. The argument moved inside the home, where the woman told police the man then began beating her.
When police arrived, the man, later identified as Steven Stepp Jr., 34, of Lockport, "began fighting with the deputy, and would not comply with any of the commands." Stepp then reportedly "pushed, grabbed, and struck" the deputy, the sheriff's office said. A second deputy arrived and helped take Stepp into custody.
