LTHS Central Campus 'On Track' To Open Aug. 19

LOCKPORT, IL — Superintendent Rob McBride said the District is "on track" to open Lockport Central Campus for the first day of school on Aug. 19.
Last November, the ceiling in a third-floor classroom collapsed. Since then, LTHS freshmen have attended school at Lincoln-Way North campus in Frankfort.
In a video update on Tuesday, McBride said 29 different classrooms and three hallways had the "legacy plaster" removed and rebuilt.

"We are in that final phase, rebuilding," McBride said. As of Monday, the District was ready to take occupancy of the first floor, where all projects have been completed.
The second floor has had its ceilings replaced, and the acoustical tiles are about to be sealed up, and the entire floor cleaned up, McBride said.

Construction continues on the third floor, where heavy plaster ceilings continue to be replaced.
"There will be sections of this building that will not open on Aug. 19, they'll open after Labor Day," McBride said, adding that those closed sections won't prevent school from starting on time.
