LTHS Drafting And Design Students Win At State Competition
Overall, 14 LTHS students earned first, second or third place.

LOCKPORT, IL — LTHS CAD and drafting students s had a strong showing in this year’s Illinois Design Educators Association state competition, the district shared in a news release. On April 20, LTHS students competed with 200 others at the statewide competition.
Overall, 14 LTHS students earned first, second or third place. This is the most state medals ever for LTHS in this competition, the district said.
The following LTHS students placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at the IDEA State Competition:

- Aubree Tovar, Mara Kubis, and Chloe Berry were named State Champions for Architecture Design Team. This is Chloe Berry’s third State Championship.
- Krista Wojcikiewicz, Patricia Jurzyk, and Sasha Jarosik were named State Champions for Engineering Design Team.
- David Krzysiak achieved first place for 3D CAD Modeling.
- Dylan Lukaszewski achieved second place in Assembly Modeling.
- Ryan Soderstrom achieved second place in Introductory CAD.
- Stephen Reuter and Brian Sagon both achieved second place in 3D Machine CAD.
- Emily Do earned third place in 3D Architecture.
- Duncan Kenney-Benson earned third place in Assembly Modeling.
- William Wagner earned third place in 2D Machine CAD.
In the CAD contests, the students were given a drawing problem to solve and draw within a 90-minute time limit, according to the District. In the team divisions, the students were presented with a design problem in January. The designs were graded by architects, engineers, college instructors and college students in this field.
Jeff Brown, Rodger Ebert, Corey Duzan, and Dan Mostyn are LTHS instructors for IDEA.

“It is great to see the success and efforts of these students’ hard work in Architecture, Engineering, and CAD courses. It is always nice to see how you would do against other students from across the state, and they all did well," Brown said in a release.
