LTHS Girls Volleyball Takes Third Place In The State

The Porters finished with a 34-8 record this season.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport Township High School girls volleyball team has captured third place in the state for the second year in a row after the 2025 Class 4A state tournament.

The Porters lost to Benet Academy in the semifinals, and then played Fremd in the third-place match-up. According to IHSA, Lockport defeated Fremd 21-25, 25-23, 25-16 to take third place.

Head Coach Nick Mraz said that after the 2024 campaign, "the returners had a lot of high expectations not only for themselves but from the volleyball community as a whole."

"Despite injuries (some season-ending) and other obstacles, the girls faced any adversity head on throughout the season without skipping a beat," Mraz said.

The team roster includes: Kate Nelson, Kalina Murdoch, Mary Donnelly, Mikayla Marshall, Emma Consigny, Olivia Priest, Malley Green, Josephine Baranowski, Sara McGraw, Natalie Bochantin, Maya Kevo-Baker, Anna Higham, Olivia Maier, Hutsyn Timosciek, Malia Cole, Quinn Higham, Bridget Ferriter, Brooklyn Chesna and manager Kyla Mitchell.

"They finished another amazing season with a final record of 34-8 while collecting hardware along the way as Regional Champions, Sectional Champions, Super-Sectional Champions and IHSA Class 4A 3rd Place in State," Mraz said. "With that trophy, they earned the title of the top public school in Illinois for the second consecutive year. As a coach, I could not be more proud of what they achieved this season."

Fremd finished fourth in the tournament, Lockport finished third, Benet took second place and Marist took the state championship for Class 4A.
