Military History Weekend Coming To Dellwood Park

This annual event features encampments and battles from the Civil War, World War I, World War II and Vietnam.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Township Park District will host its annual Military History Weekend on Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, in Dellwood Park, 199 E. Woods Drive in Lockport.

Events will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on both days. This annual event features encampments and battles from the Civil War, World War I, World War II and Vietnam, the park district said in a release.

All veterans are welcome to enjoy free food and beverages from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Veteran Hospitality Tent on both days. The Veterans’ Tent is sponsored by the Lockport VFW Post 5788 and AARP.

There will also be pyrotechnics sponsored by Heidelberg Materials, military vehicles, uniforms and equipment from different eras, photo ops, a Rockford Peaches baseball game, WWII memorabilia and vendors, concessions and beer bunker, and more.

Sept. 7
9:30 a.m. Park Opens
11 a.m. WWII Battle
12 p.m. Sweet Reminder – performing hits from the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s
1 p.m. Civil War Battle
3 p.m. WWII Battle
4 p.m. Brass from the Past – Chicago’s top cover band covering the hits of Motown, pop,
jazz, R&B, soul, rock and funk
6 p.m. Bridge Skirmish (West of Footbridge)
6:45 p.m. Vietnam Battle with pyrotechnics
8 p.m. USO Show featuring Silver Bullet – Bob Segar Tribute Band
10:30 p.m. Park closes

This event is sponsored by Citgo, Heidelberg Materials, AARP and the VFW Post 5788.

Tickets are available for purchase online, and adults are $10; children 12 years and younger, seniors 55 and older and veterans are $5.
