Election results will be official after canvassing on July 19, according to the county clerk. Provisional ballots cast on Election Day and all remaining vote by mail ballots that are postmarked by Election Day will be counted by provisional count on July 12.
The Village Board approved a resolution submitting the proposition for the ballot in a special board meeting in March.
According to the Village Board documents, "The President and Board of Trustees are committed to ensuring effective and efficient administration of Village government and the responsible management of taxpayer money" and sought voter approval to transition the clerk's office "into a professional office that would be accountable for providing the appropriate Village services required by law."
