Attempted Homicide Charges Filed After Man Stabbed 18 Times In Lockport: Cops
A 19-year-old from Elwood has been charged after stabbing a man 18 times, after meeting him to sell narcotics, police said.

LOCKPORT, IL — A 19-year-old from Elwood is in custody and facing charges of attempted murder after a stabbing in Lockport on Sunday night, according to Lockport Police.
Lockport officers were called to assist the Lockport Township Park District Police Department at 7:11 p.m. on Sunday, after a man walked into the Challenge Fitness facility for help after being injured, police said.
The 23-year-old victim was provided first aid by facility staff until officers and paramedics arrived.

It was found that the victim had been stabbed multiple times, police said. The victim was conscious, and was able to provide officers with information about the offender, who was known to him.
The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. He had 18 stab wounds to multiple parts of his body, including his face, neck, abdomen and legs, police said.

The park district police turned the investigation over to the Lockport Police Department due to the extent of the victim's injuries, according to police.
Police learned that the offender, now identified as Christian Mikolaitis, had met the victim to sell him narcotics. Police said Mikolaitis, in an unprovoked attack, stabbed the victim while he was seated in Mikolaitis' vehicle.
The victim got out of the vehicle, and Mikolaitis fled, police said.
Mikolaitis was found in the Minooka area by law enforcement agencies who attempted to stop his car, but he continued to flee, police said. He was found by officers from the Grundy County Sheriff's Office and the Morris Police Department at a rest area along Interstate 80, and was placed under arrest.
He was taken to Lockport Police Department for questioning, and charged with attempted murder. Mikolaitis is in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Facility, awaiting a pretrial detention hearing.
