100 Speeding Citations, 1 DUI Arrest In Ramped Up Speed Enforcement Efforts: Flossmoor PD

Flossmoor police on Tuesday released the results of speed enforcement patrols July 8–August 1.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — The Flossmoor Police Department recently released the results of ramped up speed enforcement efforts during July.

The focused traffic safety campaign July 8-Aug. 1 was to remind area motorists that “Speeding Catches Up with You” and to encourage safe driving habits, police said.

The campaign was part of a state-wide effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois State Police, aiming to reduce highway fatalities and injuries associated with speeding.

During this enforcement period, Flossmoor Police issued:

  • 108 speeding citations
  • 4 suspended / revoked license violations
  • Six uninsured motorist violations
  • Three seat belt citations
  • 1 DUI arrest
  • 22 other traffic citations

“We continue to urge all drivers traveling through Flossmoor to slow down, obey speed limits and to drive responsibly,” says Flossmoor Police Chief Carl Estelle. “Every decision you make behind the wheel matters.”

This campaign aligns with IDOT’s broader “It’s Not a Game” initiative, emphasizing that dangerous driving behaviors have serious consequences. The speed enforcement effort was funded by federal highway safety dollars administered by IDOT.
