HOMEWOOD, IL — A police chase ending in Homewood resulted in three people being taken into custody, Illinois State Police told Patch.

According to ISP, a state trooper first noticed a white BMW on Interstate 80 at around 6 p.m. Monday and found the same car was wanted in connection with a hijacking that occurred earlier that day in Matteson.

Officials said the trooper tried to stop the BMW but the car instead fled, starting a pursuit that involved Matteson, Country Club Hills and Homewood police. As the car fled eastbound, one person got out of the car near the corner of Lexington Drive and Holmes Avenue and was caught by Country Club Hills police.

Officials would not release the names of the three people taken into custody, but did say two firearms were recovered during the arrest. All people were handed over to Matteson police who will continue the investigation, ISP officials said.
