74-Year-Old Man Hit By Car In Homewood Dies: Police

It happened in the Governors Highway and Dolphin Lake Drive area just before 6 a.m., police said.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A 74-year-old man was struck and killed by a car early Tuesday morning, according to Homewood police.

Around 5:48 a.m., police said they responded to the area of Governors Highway and Dolphin Lake Drive for the report of a traffic crash involving a Gray KIA Forte, which had been traveling southbound on Governors Hwy. When officers arrived, they said the man, whose identity has not yet been released, was found dead.

The driver of the Kia was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART).
