Gunfire Hits Apartment In Targeted Incident, More Shell Casings Found: Homewood PD

The two shots fired calls were at 2500 block of Locust, and 3300 block of 183rd Street, police said.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Homewood police are investigating after gunfire hit an apartment building early Tuesday morning in a targeted incident, according to an alert.

The shots fired followed a similar call late Monday night, when police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Locust. Police found several spent shell casings. The suspect(s) had fled the scene.

At 8:09 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 3300 block of 183rd for a delayed damage to property report. Upon arrival, officers found that an unknown person fired at least two rounds into the front of an apartment building, shattering the glass front door and damaging the drywall inside the building. Upon further investigation, police said they believe the shooting may have occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m.

Police said their initial findings indicate the shootings were not random. No injuries were reported. The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating both incidents.
