Homewood-Flossmoor Man Remembered For 'Interesting, Successful' Life
Myles Franklin Dowie MacCormack, 78, resided in both Homewood and Flossmoor, family said. He was known for many passions and hobbies.

HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR, IL — Myles Franklin Dowie MacCormack, born May 10, 1945 died April 4, 2024. Myles resided in both Homewood and Flossmoor, family said.
Myles died peacefully with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie. His children Dave (Christine), Dawn (Kathy), Scott (Christine) and Beth Phillips. Grandchildren, Dana (Cory), Brett, Sean (Logan), Paige, Neil and Ryan, many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. He also leaves behind his sisters Charlene and MaryLyn and brother Fred. Preceded in death by his parents Doreen and Jack and his favorite canine companion, Gonzo.
Myles was born in Toronto, Canada and moved with his family to Chicago as a young boy. He comes from strong Scottish lineage, something that he was always very proud of. Myles was an avid fisherman, amazing gardener, passionate cook (the Rice Pilaf special recipe is still a fan favorite and widely circulated).

He led a very interesting and successful life, doing things like racing cars, a drummer in a small jazz band, marketing executive, restaurant owner, and late into his retirement years working for Hoekstra Heating and Air Conditioning at the Costco Orland location, where he made some of his best friends in life.
The family is planning a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Suburban Humane Society in Myles’ name.
