Homewood Man, 57, Arrested After 'Acting Suspiciously,' Fleeing Cops At Frankfort HS: Sheriff
The incident happened Tuesday evening at Lincoln-Way East, the Will County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

FRANKFORT, IL — A Homewood man was arrested after an incident at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort Tuesday, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.
The man—identified as Eric Havens, 57—turned himself in to police after fleeing authorities at the school Tuesday evening.
At around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Will County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer (SRO) was alerted by attendees at a volleyball game at Lincoln-Way East High School of a man acting suspiciously. When the SRO approached the man, police say he fled on foot.

The SRO pursued the man into a nearby subdivision, and multiple law enforcement resources—including Will County Sheriff’s Deputies, K9 units, drones, and neighboring agencies—responded to assist in the search. Although he was not immediately located, police said the SRO was able to identify the man through school security footage as Havens.
Two hours later, Havens turned himself in at the Frankfort Police Department. He was taken into custody by Will County Sheriff’s Deputies and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, where he was initially charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

Police did not give additional details on the behavior by Havens that caused concern.
At no time during this incident was there an imminent threat to anyone attending the event or the surrounding community, the sheriff's office said.
Sheriff Mike Kelley thanked the Frankfort Police Department, the Mokena Police Department, and the staff and administration of Lincoln-Way East High School for their swift actions and cooperation during the incident.
“Our School Resource Officers work closely with our school partners to maintain safe learning environments,” said Sheriff Kelley. “Thanks to their quick communication and teamwork, this situation was resolved safely and efficiently.”
