Homewood Partners With RTA To Study Downtown Improvements
According to a spokesperson for the RTA, the village will study ways to increase population, use old buildings and become more walkable.
HOMEWOOD, IL — Homewood residents could see major changes coming to the area surrounding the Homewood Metra station as a result of a study with the village and the Regional Transportation Agency, officials said Tuesday.
The village partnered with the RTA for the beginning stages of a community planning project. Officials said beginning this year, engineers and other representatives will work to develop a plan that could introduce more walkable, sustainable areas surrounding the station.
According to a spokeswoman for the RTA, ongoing renovations at the Metra and Amtrak station have given officials the chance to study what changes could attract new investments, increase transit use and overall population.
