Homewood Police Officer Revs Up For A Good Cause In Torch Run Five-O Race
Homewood PD's Ken Norbut will hit high speeds for a good cause Saturday, Aug. 2.

HOMEWOOD, IL — On August 2, Homewood Police Officer Ken Norbut will trade in his patrol car for something a little faster—his very own race car—when he takes the wheel in this year’s Torch Run Five-O Race, an event that raises funds and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois.
Officer Norbut is not only the participant, he’s the proud owner and mechanic of the car he’ll be driving. With a passion for motorsports and an even greater passion for serving his community, Norbut purchased the vehicle earlier this year and has been working tirelessly to bring it back to racing condition. From tune-ups to bodywork, every turn of the wrench has brought him one step closer to the finish line.
The Torch Run Five-O Race is part of the larger Law Enforcement Torch Run initiative, in which officers across the state raise money and awareness for the thousands of athletes served by Special Olympics Illinois. For Officer Norbut, combining his love of cars with a cause close to his heart made perfect sense.
