Homewood Rehab Center Fined For Not Providing Clean Towels: IDPH
According to a report, South Suburban Rehab Center left a resident with stool on himself while nurses searched, with no luck, for linens.
HOMEWOOD, IL — Four south suburban nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, including one in Homewood, were fined by the Illinois Department of Public Health for a variety of violations, according to the IDPH.
The facilities were charged with "A" violations of the Nursing Home Care Act, meaning a condition was created where a resident could have suffered death or serious physical harm but did not. Homes with "AA" violations created a condition where the facility proximately caused a resident's death.
South Suburban Rehab Center at 19000 South Halsted Street in Homewood was fined $25,000 for "failing to provide washcloths and towels to clean a resident." The report states a resident was left with fecal matter on himself while a CNA went to find towels but could not find any fresh cloths and had to use a bathmat instead.
