Project Kennedy Blanket Making Day: Honoring a Legacy, Wrapping the Nation in Kare
Community invited to help make 250 tie blankets for cancer patients nationwide in honor of Kennedy Parker's 30th birthday.

Project Kennedy is inviting volunteers, students, and caring community members to take part in a heartfelt mission: creating 250 handmade tie blankets for individuals impacted by cancer across all 50 states. The event, Blanket Making Day, will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 10 AM to 1 PM at The Cancer Support Center in Homewood, IL.
Founded by Kennedy Parker before she lost her battle with Ewing Sarcoma at age 24, Project Kennedy is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to spreading comfort and joy to those facing cancer. In celebration of what would have been Kennedy’s 30th birthday, the organization is launching a nationwide initiative to gift five blankets per state—each one made with love and a message of Kare.
Blanket Making Day is part of Project Kennedy’s “Dare the World to Kare!” campaign, and no sewing experience is required. Volunteers will tie fleece blankets, creating cozy gifts for patients undergoing treatment. Students seeking community service hours and anyone looking to give back are encouraged to attend.
