Sheriff Searches For 1 More Juvenile In Homewood Acres Vandalism

1 boy has already been arrested in the incident but 1 is still at large after officials said the duo left, changed clothes and came back.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Sheriff's police are looking for one more juvenile in connection to the vandalism at Homewood Acres Fire Station over Memorial Day Weekend.

According to a press release from the sheriff's office, one boy has already been arrested in the incident which caused nearly $100,000 worth of damage to the volunteer station. The boy is facing one charge of burglary.

Security camera footage from the event appeared to show two boys throwing a rock into the window of the station and then joining two other young boys inside. The Cook County Sheriff's Office said they now know there were only two boys involved in the damage but that the duo left the station in the midst of ripping apart furniture and walls to change their clothes and come back.

Authorities are still looking for the other boy. Parents are asked to check on their children's whereabouts from 8:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 28.
