Small Business Saturday, Tree Lighting Kick Off Flossmoor Holidays
Small Business Saturday, Celebrate the Season set for Saturday, Nov. 30 in Flossmoor.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — The holiday season kicks off in the Village of Flossmoor on Saturday, Nov. 30, with Small Business Saturday throughout the Village’s shopping districts and Celebrate the Season in downtown Flossmoor.
Shoppers can look for specials and great deals all day long for shopping and dining in Flossmoor’s downtown retail area, as well as at Flossmoor Commons (located at Vollmer Road and Governors Highway).
“Combining the magic of the holiday season with Small Business Saturday creates the perfect opportunity to embrace cherished traditions and light up the season with unique gifts from your favorite Flossmoor businesses,” said Stephanie Wright, Flossmoor’s Community

The Village will offer free activities that day for all ages in Flossmoor Park, located at Brassie Avenue and Flossmoor Road. The fun will start at 3 p.m. when Santa arrives (with a lift from the Flossmoor Fire Department) for photos and visits with kids. Hot chocolate and treats will be served by the Flossmoor Firebirds, one of the Village’s travel baseball teams. The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District will offer free kids’ crafts inside the Park Place building from 3 to 5 p.m.
After the sun sets, the Flossmoor Service League will set up a luminary display along the path of Flossmoor Park, setting the scene for candle-lit strolls. Then at 5 p.m. members of the H-F Viking Choir will lead the community in carols as everyone waits for Mayor Michelle Nelson to light the annual Holiday Tree with help from Santa at 5:30 p.m.

New this year: event goers will be able to warm themselves at a bonfire as they enjoy a free Flossmoor Centennial cupcake, and the Flossmoor Community Relations Commission will be on hand to collect donations for Open Access, a social service agency based in Homewood. Needed items include new and gently used winter weather apparel, such as hats, scarves, mittens and coats in all sizes.
