Tornado Warning For Southern Cook County

FLOSSMOOR, IL — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning until 12:45 p.m. for Cook County, including Park Forest, Homewood, Matteson, Country Club Hills, Hazel Crest, Richton Park, Flossmoor and Olympia Fields.

According to NWS, at 12:22 p.m., "a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Matteson, moving east at 10 mph."

Impact could include flying debris that could be dangerous to those caught without shelter, as well as damage to mobile homes, roofs, windows, vehicles and trees.

Residents were advised to take cover in the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows.
