Abused 7-Year-Old In Diaper Found Running Along Lake Shore Drive

A Kenwood woman is accused of badly beating her 7-year-old son.

At approximately 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 2, a 7-year-old boy in a diaper was discovered by Chicago Police Officers running northbound in the southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive.

According to the Chicago Police Department, (CPD) the boy had multiple injuries to his face and body. He was then transported to University of Chicago Hospital for treatment, the Hyde Park Herald reports.

A doctor who examined the boy said the child had more injuries on his body than the doctor had ever seen on one person, prosecutors said. An investigation revealed the boy had been fed sporadically, frequently locked in a closet and beaten with household items, court records show, according to DNAInfo.

Later that day, Caroline Woods was arrested at her residence in the 4800 block of South Chicago Beach Drive. Woods, 24, is charged with aggravated battery to a child under 13 years of age, and one felony count of aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.

Woods was scheduled to appear in central bond court on Oct. 4, but no further details are available at this time.
